Finally! A set of downloadable hovercraft plans !
When I first started this site, I was hoping to find a set of hovercraft plans with detailed step-by-step instructions that I could download on the spot.
Unfortunately, none were available.
But all that has changed! Dan (The Man) from Hovercraft Central wrote up a set of kick-butt plans you can start working with right here and now.
So instead of spending lots of time (not to mention money) re-inventing the craft,
click here to download the plans, complete with diagrams and parts list.
Even if you are an engineering wiz (which I'm not), trying to build one of these without a plan can be quite daunting – especially if you want to end up with a craft you can actually take out for a hover cruise :)
Construction requires commonly available materials
Here are the specs for the real craft:
| Capacity || 1 Person |
| Maximum Payload || 211 Lbs. (95 Kilo) |
| Speed || 12 - 20 mph (20 - 32 kph) |
| Hover Height || 8 inches (20 cm) |
| Length || 6'8" (2 meters) |
| Empty Weight || ~65 Lbs (30 Kilo) |
| Flotation || 453 Lbs or 205 Kilo (calculated) |
| Engine || 5 to 7 hp (under 35 Lbs) |
| Construction Method || Foam and Plywood Composite |
| Construction Time || 12 hours (approximate) |
I've reviewed these plans personally, and for $27 and a money-back guarantee, you really can't go wrong.
