The bottom of the Air Biscuit
I decided to build a garage hovercraft back in 2005. My brother and I built the round disk model that is found all over the internet and it worked just as planned. The round craft floated full grown men (over 200lbs each) all over the garage and down the driveway. We were plugged into the wall with an electric leaf blower and a 100ft extension cord. I swore that way that we would build a craft that would float on solid ground and cruise (chord free) using 2 gas powered engines. This craft is built on a 4 x 8 1/4 " sheet of plywood. We reinforced it using a 2x2 framework. The lift engine we are using is a 6.5 HP vertical shaft Briggs engine and a 24" 4 blade hovercraft fan. The thrust engine is a 33 cc Craftsman weed eater engine and a 21 inch propeller. We are using wind ducts to reduce the tip speed on both. We are making great progress on the "Air Biscuit" project. We made the lift assembly removable (4 wing nuts) so that the craft is easy to store in the garage and we have some unique ideas for the Thrust fan assembly as well.
