The Web Writer in Me
On the job as a web writer and marketer, I found myself immersed in the inner workings of technology and business, breaking products down into features and benefits, understanding product positioning and corporate branding. That sort of stuff. What drove me forward and kept me focused was an opportunity I'd never really explored before – using my own voice as a tool for professional advancement. I fell in love with the creative rush of carving words into products, concepts into visual communication pieces. There was just one problem, the right projects became increasingly harder to find. I wrote an annual report for investors as if I were writing a feature technology article. I wrote articles as a local technology correspondent in Israel, and consulted Internet.com when the company decided to set up a local branch in my home economy. I even started my own interactive branding agency. As nearly a decade of writing gigs and jobs developed into a career in marketing communications and web corporate madness, I started getting frustrated. Dealing with organizational politics took its toll. My creative energies became impossible to harness. I needed a change.
